Insights from Alkymi’s Buy-Side Roundtables at InvestOps Europe 2025

Last week in Paris, the buy-side operations community came together for InvestOps Europe 2025, a premier gathering for senior leaders driving transformation across investment operations. Among the standout sessions were Alkymi’s buy-side roundtable discussions, which brought together COOs, Heads of Operations, and data leaders from top asset managers and private market firms.

Private markets data took center stage, and AI was at the heart of every operating model conversation. During Alkymi’s roundtables with buy-side executives, participants explored how asset managers are driving meaningful change on the ground, from scaling data infrastructure to advancing automation and governance frameworks.

Alkymi hosted multiple buy-side roundtables designed to foster peer-to-peer dialogue on the future of investment operations. The atmosphere was both strategic and relaxed, encouraging open sharing of lessons learned, operational challenges, and success stories.

These sessions reflected Alkymi’s continued commitment to connecting the investment community and empowering practitioners to reimagine how data, AI, and automation can deliver measurable business impact.

Themes That Defined the Conversation

  • Turning Data into an Operational Advantage
Executives emphasized the shift from reactive data handling to proactive data strategy. Unstructured data, once a burden, is now viewed as a source of competitive differentiation when harnessed effectively.
  • AI-Driven Transformation at Scale
Firms shared real-world use cases of AI and automation driving workflow efficiency, accuracy, and scalability, particularly in document-intensive and private markets processes.
  • Scaling for Alternatives
As the industry embraces private markets and complex fund structures, buy-side teams face mounting pressure to scale operations without scaling headcount. Discussions explored how data automation and flexible architecture enable growth without added friction.
  • People, Process, and Technology Alignment
Change management emerged as a central theme. Attendees agreed that even the most sophisticated technology solutions succeed only when embedded into organizational culture with strong leadership and clear processes.
  • Security, Governance, and Trust in AI
Attendees discussed how security, governance, and data integrity are central to achieving trusted outcomes with AI. With sensitive client and portfolio data at the core of investment operations, firms emphasized the importance of enterprise-grade security, transparency, and controlled human oversight throughout automation workflows.

The roundtables offered a space for candid exchanges that went deeper than traditional panel sessions, fostering meaningful connections and actionable takeaways for attendees. Those conversations continued at Alkymi’s booth, where delegates explored live demonstrations and discussed real-world applications of AI and data automation across investment operations.

The discussions in Paris reaffirmed a shared commitment to innovation across the buy side. As Alkymi continues its 2025 event series, the team looks forward to expanding these conversations at upcoming industry summits around the world.
