At InvestOps Europe in London, one question connected many of the discussions across investment operations: how can firms support more complex portfolios without adding more manual work?
As a sponsor, Alkymi joined operations, data, and technology leaders to discuss the systems and processes needed to scale. The agenda covered AI, data strategy, operational resilience, and the growing need to bring public and private market workflows into a more connected operating model.
As allocations to private markets grow, operations teams must manage a steady flow of capital notices, statements, loan agent notices, and other documents from managers, agents, and investor portals. The information arrives in different formats and often requires review before it can be used in downstream systems.
That work affects far more than reporting. Delays or errors in capturing private markets data can make it harder to maintain a current view of cash flows, exposures, and investment activity. Scaling the asset class calls for a reliable way to retrieve, structure, validate, and deliver that information to the teams that need it.
The discussion around AI in operations is moving from what a model can demonstrate to what a team can use consistently. A promising pilot is only the beginning. In production, teams need to know where information came from, how it was interpreted, what requires review, and how corrections flow back into the process.
For private markets, this means applying AI to the work that consumes operational capacity while keeping people in control of exceptions and decisions. Document retrieval, data extraction, validation, and review are practical places to start because they address recurring work and create a clearer path from source document to usable data.
Firms are also looking more closely at how their systems work together. Private markets data cannot sit apart from the broader investment operating model. It needs to reach portfolio, accounting, risk, and reporting workflows with enough context for teams to trust and use it.
This is where integration becomes essential. A well designed workflow can reduce repeated data entry, preserve a link to the source, and help operations teams act on new information sooner. The goal is a more complete and timely view across assets, while respecting the distinct processes that private markets require.
These themes reflect the work Alkymi is focused on every day. Our platform helps investment firms retrieve private markets documents, extract and validate the information they contain, and connect that data to existing workflows. Human review and source traceability give teams the context to resolve exceptions and move forward with confidence.
Thank you to everyone who met with us at InvestOps Europe. The conversations reinforced a clear priority for investment operations: turn fragmented information into trusted data that can support growth.
