At the SimCorp Americas Summit in Nashville, conversations kept returning to a practical question: how can firms use AI to improve investment operations today?
Across the front, middle, and back office, attendees were interested in advances they could apply to real workflows. They wanted to see how AI handles complex documents, improves data quality, and gets reliable information into the systems their teams already use. Just as clearly, they wanted evidence that those workflows deliver value in production.
Matt DeLoca, VP of Sales for Alkymi, took the stage for the plenary session “Build for Scale: Smarter Workflows, Reporting and Compliance.” His session explored a challenge that came up throughout the summit: as investment operations grow more complex, firms need trusted data and connected workflows to support timely reporting and effective oversight. For Alkymi, this is already happening in production: our native SimCorp integration turns complex investment documents into validated, workflow-ready data, reducing manual work and putting trusted information directly into the systems teams use every day.
Many firms are taking a best-in-class approach to technology. They want specialized capabilities that solve a specific problem well and connect with their core platform, rather than asking one system to do everything.
For asset owners and allocators, that makes integration more than a technical detail. A new capability has to reduce friction for the people managing documents, reviewing data, and moving information between teams. It should strengthen existing processes without adding another manual handoff.
That is one reason Alkymi’s track record in the SimCorp partner ecosystem resonated. With multiple shared clients live in production, we can bring experience integrating document workflows into SimCorp environments. Our native SimCorp integration helps turn information in investment documents into structured data that teams can review and use within their existing workflows.
Alternatives remain a priority, but the conversations extended well beyond capital calls and statements. Attendees asked about private credit, risk, and tax workflows, and how the same foundation for retrieving, extracting, validating, and delivering data can support more of the investment lifecycle.
Private credit drew particular interest. As loan portfolios grow, teams need to process information from loan agent notices and other sources while maintaining the controls required for accounting, reporting, and risk oversight. They are looking for proven business cases, including examples of how other firms manage the work in practice. For a closer look, watch our private credit webinar with Principal Asset Management and F2 Strategy.
Attendees were also curious about what consolidation means for the private markets technology ecosystem. Bloomberg’s announced acquisition of Canoe Intelligence and Carta’s acquisition of Accelex have brought renewed attention to how firms choose partners, connect their systems, and retain flexibility as platforms evolve. Read our response for more perspective on what these developments mean for the market, Bloomberg Is Buying Canoe. What It Means for Private Markets Operations.
That question sits alongside the preference we heard for best-in-class solutions: can a firm adopt new capabilities while keeping its data and workflows connected across its broader environment?
Our takeaway from Nashville is that the next phase of AI in investment operations will be judged by what works: useful applications across asset classes, measurable operational value, and integrations that make complex processes easier to run. We enjoyed discussing those priorities with the SimCorp community and look forward to continuing the conversation.
