Alkymi’s Review Agent Brings Agentic AI to Document Review

by Keerti Hariharan

Alkymi Review Agents

Review Agent adds an intelligent layer of review, helping teams increase confidence in extracted data, reduce manual effort, and move closer to straight-through processing.

Document automation has advanced rapidly over the years. But every operations team knows there’s still that last mile: reviewing extracted values, catching exceptions, and ensuring the right data is moving downstream.

Validation rules, such as those embedded in Alkymi’s existing models, can help with some if not most of these. If a required field is missing, a due date precedes an issue date, or a net amount does not equal the sum of individual transactions, the system can raise a flag.

Not every issue can be anticipated, and not every anomaly fits neatly into a formula.

Some exceptions are more contextual. They may depend on how similar documents looked in the past, how a field has historically been populated, what types of issues have appeared in prior human reviews, or perhaps something else. These types of issues can be challenging for rule-based validations alone to catch.

This is where Alkymi’s Review Agent comes in.

An Intelligent Second Pair of Eyes

Review Agent is Alkymi’s new AI-powered review feature, available today, that brings agentic AI directly into the document review process.

Once Alkymi’s models extract data from a document, the Review Agent adds a second layer of automated review. The agent takes an additional pass across extracted fields, looking for values that may require closer attention. When it identifies a potential issue, it flags the field, explains why a value may need review, and offers a recommended response where applicable.

You can think of the Review Agent as a smarter set of eyes, one that can take broader document context, configured for specific patterns with guidance on the document type, relevant fields, review expectations, common extraction issues, and examples of when a value should or should not be flagged.

Agentic AI Partnering with Humans

The Review Agent can operate in suggestion mode, which means users remain in full control.

The agent does not silently overwrite extracted values. Instead, it gives the user the option to select between the original extraction and the Review Agent’s suggested value, along with a clear explanation.

This gives reviewers more context, more confidence, and a quicker path to the right answer.

A Leap Toward Straight Through Processing

For our clients, this matters because the Review Agent brings them one major step closer to straight through processing. That means, less time spent reviewing extracted data points and correcting erroneous fields, higher confidence in the data, and the opportunity to focus their time tackling higher value tasks within their operations.

Alkymi’s Review Agent has made document review more intelligent, contextual, explainable, and agentic.
